In our first game back after a lack of soccer last week due to weather, and uncommon heat on the turf field, the team seemed to struggle with energy. The braves had the wind at our backs in the first half and controlled the ball on the Western half for the majority but couldn’t put the ball in the Net. Leading the team in effort and energy was Grant Anderson playing mid-field. He consistently gives 100% effort. In the 2nd half, the Braves were able to put in our first goal when Jackson Jones created a run with Zach Sparks off a throw in. Zach slipped the ball past the goalie to break the tie. The 2nd goal came off a Western penalty, which Mac played a quick thru ball past the defense, Zach outran the defenders and again beat the goalie. The remainder of the 2nd half was played with a defensive mindset to hold the 2 goal lead. Dylan Baker played another great game at goalie with several athletic saves to secure the shutout. His drop kicks in the first half with the wind consistently surprised the Western defenders. Leading the team defense was Haley Warren, David Gabrys, Nolan Jones and Ryan Ousley with several others taking turns. Mac Middle is now 5-2-1 on the season and play next at Whitko on Thursday.
