In a double header at Rochester on Wed, the Mac Soccer teams improved to 10-2-1 on the season.
First, in action, the Blue team beat the Rochester A team 3-2. . Isaac Lorenz and Jackson Jones were able to get goals in the first few mins of the game and it appeared that Mac would run away with the game. The Zebra’s rallied though and toughened up their defense and held the Braves scoreless the rest of the half. Near the end of the first, they scored a late goal on a breakdown in our defense and were able to go into halftime down 2-1. In the second half, the Zebras were the more aggressive team starting out and seemed to beat Mac to loose balls. They tied the game on a ball that somehow squeezed thru the Braves goalie’s legs. With the game tied going into the last 10 mins, Isaac Lorenz accelerated through the Rochester defense and scored his 2nd of the day giving Mac the 3-2 lead. From there, the team focused on defense and held for win.
In the shortened 2nd game, the Red team (with additional help from some blue team players) defeated the Rochester 2nd team by a score of 2-1. In this game, we were able to give other players opportunities on the field that they hadn’t previously been able to experience. The team was rewarded with first goals of the season by Haley Townsend (off a deflected shot by Haley Warren) and by Connor Kubly, with the assist from Kaden Miller.
The Mac Soccer program improved to 10-2-1 on the season. There are 3 games left with the next game on Saturday morning @ Carroll.
