Maconaquah High School 5th 153

What a way to wrap up a season! This was the best sectional I have ever seen for Maconaquah! We placed 5th today and had a swimmer in every event, not to mention 3 of those events we had 2 swimmers in the race! Diving was a fantastic event as we had 3 divers on the podium! We were truly a force to be reckoned with and it felt good to be a BRAVE today! Alaina Simmons placed 11 in the 200 and 12 in the 500, she did not get best times but held tight to her times from Thursday. Anna Borden and Bailey Hays tag teamed both the 50 free and 100 free earning 12 and 13 in the 50 and 13 and 15 in the 100. Abby Shrock almost had a PR in the 100 backstroke with a 1:06.47 earning her the 14 spot. Lydia Jones was right with her getting a PR of 1:07.57 earning her the 15 spot. Janet Johnston placed 15 in the 100 breaststroke and 16 in the IM. Allee Nethercutt placed 16 in the 100 fly. In diving, Raygan Plothow placed 4th, Natalie Tubb placed 5th, and Sarah Montgomery placed 8th. Raygan will be moving on to the Regional Diving meet on Tuesday to compete for a chance at the State meet next Saturday. Two Golden Goggles go out today. One to Raygan Plothow for moving on to Regionals! She did a great job keeping her poise and head held high to be able to move forward today. It was a long day to keep up with the 11 dive set. I’m proud of her and can’t wait to see how she does on Tuesday! The next Golden Goggle goes to Bailey Hays. Bailey had large drops of time in the 100 on Thursday night and was able to maintain the drops today. She went from a consistent 58 or 59 to a 57.82. That is a very large margin to drop in a 100 free. Bailey swam in 4 events today maintaining those times! #BravePride
