The Maconaquah Boy’s C-Team Basketball season got underway Tuesday night at Caston. Caston jumped out to a 13-2 lead making use of some good perimeter shooting coupled with a decent full court press. The Braves offense began to click in the 2nd qtr as the Braves put up 10 points in the stanza but the long range shot continued to drop for Caston as they hit 3 treys and scored 18 points of their own to take a 31-12 lead into the locker room. The pace slowed considerably in the second half as the Comets were content to work the ball for the high percentage shot for a 13-9 second half advantage leading to the final of 44-21. Mason Yoars came off the bench and used a perfect night from the floor to lead the Braves in scoring with 7 pts. Brennan Bailey tossed in 5, Hayden Williamson added 4. Mason Barnes and Haiden Thompson scored 3 and 2 respectively. Bailey also led the team in rebounds (5) and steals (3). Trenton Cobble and Richard Reimer, though failing to score, contributed positively at the defensive end of the floor.
The Braves play next at home against county rival, Peru, on Monday the 26th.
