The Maconaquah C-Team Boy’s Basketball Team raced to a 57-37 victory over the visiting Eastern Comets Tuesday night. The young Braves are now 2-4 on the season.
The offense, which struggled to get going last game, wasted no time jumping to a quick 7-2 lead and extended it to 14-4 by qtr’s end. The second qtr was even better as the Braves posted their most productive qtr of the season outscoring the visitors 17-7 to take a 31-11 lead into the locker room.
The Brave offense never let up as they posted 26 more points in an efficient 2nd half offensive effort. The defense, however, struggled to keep Eastern away from the hoop allowing the Comets to match the Braves point for point over the final 2 qtrs for the final margin.
The Brave’s bigs (trio of Cobble, Reimer and Thompson) were rock solid for the night scoring 25 pts on 17 attempts inside the arch for 1.47 pts per shot (anything over 1.0 pps is good). And the outside shooting continues to shine as the Braves were 4-9 from behind the arch for the game pushing them to 19 of 52 on the season (36.5%/1.1 pps). Many varsity teams in the area would be pleased to have those numbers.
Haiden Thompson and Brennan Bailey led the team with 13 each, followed by Richard Reimer’s 8. Trenton Cobble and Hayden Williamson both knocked down 7. Mason Yoars and Mason Barnes rounded out the scoring with 5 and 4 pts respectively. Bailey and Thompson also each had 6 rebounds on the night.
The Braves will not play again until Jan. 2nd when Mississinewa comes to visit.
