The feisty Mac Braves C-team came ready to play against the tradition rich Marion Giants, jumping to a 9-2 lead after the first qtr. The Braves continued to scrap taking an 18-16 lead into the locker room at the half. Marion picked up the intensity in the second half and turned to its full-court press to take its first lead of the game near the midway point of the 3rd qtr. Marion led 30-27 going into the 4th. Marion’s solid interior post play made it tough for the Braves to mount a comeback as they scored the bulk of their 4th qtr pts deep in the paint to come away with a 44-34 victory over the 1-3 Braves.
All seven Braves scored in the game with Haiden Thompson leading the way with 10. Trenton Cobble, Hayden Williamson and Richard Reimer had 5 apiece. Brennan Bailey, Mason Yoars and Mason Barnes scored 4, 3 and 2 respectively. Thompson also led the Braves in rebounds with 7 and Reimer added 5.
The Braves will be back on the court Saturday as they participate in the traditional “triple-header” at Oak Hill with the C-Team tipping off at 5:00 followed by the JV and Varsity squads.
