The Maconaquah C-Team Boy’s Basketball Team took a step backwards Saturday night dropping 1-4 on the season with a 40-21 loss at the hands of Oak Hill.
The Braves got out of the gate slowly only getting 4 shot attempts in the qtr on their way to a 7-0 1st qtr deficit. The defense was respectable as Oak Hill needed a buzzer beating 3pter to extend their 4-0 advantage. Things improved in the 2nd qtr as Mac managed 10 attempts (made 3) en route to a 16-7 halftime deficit.
Oak Hill continued to exploit the inside in the second half outscoring Mac 24-14 over the half for the final advantage.
Mason Barnes became the fifth player (on the seven man roster) to lead the team in scoring over the first five games of the season with 7. Trenton Cobble had 4, Brennan Bailey and Haiden Thompson had 3 each, Hayden Williamson and Richard Reimer had 2 apiece. Bailey led the team with 7 rebounds and Thompson added 5.
The Braves play their final game before the new year Tuesday at home against Eastern with a 6:00 tip-off. They start the second half of the season Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at home against Mississinewa.
