If we played West Lafayette 10 times, they would win more than we would. We also knew we could play with them, especially if they had a let down after they upset a very good Northwestern team the night before. Well, it was the opposite as they had their best shooting performance of the season. We knew coming into the game that it would be tough to overcome their athleticism, strength and size as four of their players just won the 3A football state title a few months ago. Two of those four are their leading scorers because virtually all of their shots are in the kill zone. We did an excellent job of keeping them under control in the 1st half. West Lafayette made up for their bigs not scoring by hitting 10/15 three-pointers in the opening half. Our boys couldn’t have played much better of a 1st half as we went into the locker room down by 8 pts. West Lafayette’s length and size got to us in the 2nd half as they switched to their 1-3-1 defense. Bryce Ward lead us in scoring with 20 pts. Cody Koebler & Cole Borden each had 10 pts. Chance Hagan & Hayden Maiben each had 8 pts. We are proud of our seniors and want to thank them for their contributions to Maconaquah Basketball during their past four years. Chance Hagan, Cody Koebler, & Bryce Ward——Much love and gratitude thrown your way! #bravepride
