Braves come up with BIG win over Wabash, 37-30. Not just “BIG” as in important BIG, but “BIG” as in inside play BIG. The C-Team “BIGS,” Trenton Cobble, Haiden Thompson and Richard Riemer, came up BIG, combining for 30 of the team’s 37 points and rebounding BIG all night helping hold a good Wabash Apache team, now 5-4 on the season, to only one shot per possession most of the night. BIG win.
If Cobble, Thompson and Riemer are the “BIGS” then that makes Mason Barnes, Brennan Bailey, Hayden Williamson and Mason Yoars “littles.” And, tonight, they did all the “little” things right, like getting back defensively, pressuring the ball, blocking out, providing good help-side defense and making the extra pass. They definitely had more than a “little” to do with the BIG W. It was a good team effort all around.
The Braves, now 3-6 on the season, were led in scoring by Cobble and Thompson with 13 and 12, respectively. Riemer added a season team high 14 rebounds to go with 5 pts. Williamson scored 5, all in the 3rd qtr helping hold off a Wabash rally. Brennan Bailey ran the point and pitched in 2 pts. Barnes and Yoars added to the mix with solid defense and safe offensive play.
The Braves are back in action Monday, Jan 14th at Lewis Cass, with a 6:00 tip-off.
