Game Recap

I don’t think I have ever been so happy to come out of a 21 point loss. In the second half our girls figured out what it took to compete. They dug down deep and found a way to be “All In” and give everything they had. These girls played with heart, passion, desire, and shear will and pulled the game back within 10 in the 3rd. They played smarter, harder, and together for the longest stretch of time I have seen this season. Hopefully this new found determination will develop into even more success when it comes to the goals we have each game. We just ran out of gas and we can work on fixing that. These girls have a taste and I pray it develops into an unquenchable thirst. Now we know what a little bit of success from hard work feels like and hopefully that can help us focus and achieve more in the next few practices to give ourselves the best opportunity to win this Saturday against Rochester. We are doing a canned food drive to donate to Helping Hands of Miami County. Fans that bring in cans will get an opportunity to shoot for Powerades or 2 liters of Coke at the game. We will also have a C team game preceding the JV game at 5pm. Our Chris Ousley All-State Insurance “Your In Good Hands with Chris and All-State” Impact Player of the Game was Syenna Powell. Syenna answered the call at halftime and played with her heart and everything else she could muster by giving it her all. She was the spark that ignited the 3rd quarter surge that brought the game within 10 by attacking the defense and shooting games or saving balls on the defensive side. She finished the game with 8 points on 3 of 4 shooting from the floor and was able to gather 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and took a charge. Great job Syenna and a big thank you to Chris Ousley All-State Insurance for supporting our program.

Game Recap

Again the game didn’t go as planned. We failed to execute at the minimalist of levels but I still believe in what these girls can do and will do in the future. We had numerous younger girls who got some substantial minutes and proved they want to compete and need a look. It is was unfortunate the game continued as it did at the end of the game but we took our beating and we will move forward from it. Our next game is verse Manchester at The Jungle so we have one day to prepare and get ready. Manchester is playing spectacular defense so far in this short season and we will have to play the game a lot smarter and with more deliberate execution if we want to remain in that game for any length of time. Our Chris Ousley All-State Insurance Agency “Your in Good Hands with Chris Ousley and All-State” Impact Player of the Game was Lilly Scheffler. Lilly played her heart out in her first varsity game scoring 4 points while shooting 50% from the floor and was also able to gather 3 rebounds and a steal to top it off. She is making great improvements and we hope to continue to see her grow and become a great basketball player for us. She did everything and more we asked of her tonight.

Game Recap

The game didn’t end they way we wanted it to or thought it would but our girls were successful in getting better. We have come a long way in a year and these three weeks of this young season. I am so proud of how hard they played but we just didn’t play smart and that is something that will come with experience. We still have an inexperienced team to a degree when you consider everything and it showed. We are still learning the system, how to compete, and win these close games. We had balanced scoring and a lot of girls got a lot of minutes. We just gave them too many opportunities to shoot free throws and those last inside shots when we lost our composure. There were also some uncontested outside shots with Western shooting 50% from behind the arc with 5 3’s which can cause an issue for any team. We will have to work on learning not to foul while still playing aggressive, hit a higher percentage of FTs and shots in general, and make fewer miscues on offense so we can take a great look at the basket to increase our offensive efficiency and opportunity to win. I know the girls will be ready to work and improve so something like that doesn’t occur again. We are going to learn from our mistakes, work to improve, and focus on what we need to accomplish verse Mississinewa. I still believe these girls are going to surprise some teams in the near future. I also want to elaborate on how ecstatic I was to see the JV team pick up their first win of the season. Those girls battled it out and played hard together. Our Norris Insurance Impact Player of the Game was Monica Moore for her 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and first 2 points as a first time varsity player.
