The Maconaquah Middle School Lady Braves basketball team won its fourth straight game of the season with a 34-28 victory against a tough Northfield team. The Lady Braves jumped out to an early lead and fought off several runs from a determined Northfield throughout the rest of the game.
The duo of Aubrey Kaiser and Aubrey Stoll led the team offensively with 15 and 13 points respectively. Ireland Kile added 4 points and several key rebounds while Delaney Betzner chipped in two points and provided excellent defense throughout the entire game. Addison Yocum contributed several rebounds and some timely steals as well.
“I was proud of our girls who played shorthanded with one of their teammates out sick and another injured in the game, said Coach Tim White. “They kept the same approach playing hard-nosed defense and that resulted in converting several steals into points for the team.”
In the B Team game, the Lady Braves battled Northfield to a 10-10 tie. The team had a balanced attack with Ireland Kile scoring 4 while teammates Ani Osornio, Allie Brooks and Delaney Betzner scored two each.
The 4-0 6th Grade Lady Braves play at home Tuesday against Oak Hill.
