Girls Junior Varsity Basketball · Girls Junior Varsity earns 2nd in Maconaquah JV Invitational

The Braves were victorious in game 1 of the Maconaquah JV Invitational but ultimately fell short in the championship game.

In game 1 the Braves won in exciting fashion in overtime over Frankfurt 37-30. Rachel Gunion hit a game-tying three to push the score even at 27-27 to end regulation (video attached below). Then the Braves pushed the lead to 7 in the final overtime period to win 37-30. Leading the Braves in scoring Kianna Sharp with 14 points, 2 assts,  and 8 rebs. Also scoring for the Braves was Rachel Gunion with 8 points, 1 asst, 2 rebs, and 1 stl. Makaylah Castelow had 8 points, 12 rebs, and 3 stls. Molly Nord had 4 points, 2 rebs, and 2 stls. Emma Kleppinger had 2 points, 5 rebs, and 1 stl. Rounding out the scoring was Ava Snyder with 1 point and 3 rebs. Also contributing was Rachel Eby had 4 assts, 3 rebs, and 2 stls and Atlanta Huckleby with 2 rebs and 1 stl.

In the Championship game of the Maconaquah JV Invitational, the Braves fell to Guerin Catholic 36-17. Leading scorer for the Braves was Makaylah Castelow with 7 points, 8 rebs, 1 blk, and 2 stls. Also scoring for the Braves was Emma Kleppinger with 4 points, 3 rebs, and 1 stl. Rachel Eby had 3 points, 1 asst, 3 rebs, and 1 stl and rounding out the scoring was Rachel Gunion with 3 points, 2 assts, and 1 reb. Also contributing for the Braves was Molly Nord with 4 rebs and 1 stl. Kianna Sharp with 2 assts and 6 rebs and Ava Snyder with 1 reb and 1 stl.

The JV Braves are now 5-7 on the year and are back in action away next Saturday, Dec. 22nd at noon versus the Peru Tigers.
