7 members of the Boys’ Track team earned qualifying spots to advance on to the Warsaw Regionals this Thursday at 6pm. The top 3 from each event in the sectionals and the next best 4 times/distances/heights out of the 4 sectionals feeding into the regionals advance. We had a great showing at the sectional with several PRs and were pleased with the outcome though we did leave a few points on the track in a few events we saw ourselves scoring or advancing in, especially one in particular, which would have placed us 3rd instead of finishing 5th overall in the 14 team sectional. Shemar Austin was our solo sectional winner in the 400 at 51.13 and advancing along with him is fellow 400 runner Nolan Kelly. Jordan Edgington ran an extremely smart race to finish 2nd by PRing in the 800 at 2:06.2. Dalton Outlaw also PRd in the pole vault at 13′ placing 2nd in the sectional. Also advancing were Gemini Williams in the long jump at 21′, Paxton Kintner in the discus PRing at 148-05, and Vincent Smith also with a PR in the shot put at 46-02.75. We hope to see these guys continue to improve by honing in on their technique and finding that little bit of better they have left in them to excel one more time to see if they can advance to the state meet next weekend.
