Boys Varsity Track · Boys Track Earns Runner Up at Tipton Invite

The boys team performed extremely well and had numerous PRs on the night individually and as a team. We didn’t have many 1st places but we were scoring high in events in with 2 or 3 people so we are putting ourselves in a place to succeed based on volume. It has been great to see the team excelling and grow over the past few weeks considering all the cancellations we have had and indoor practices due to weather. Our 4×800 relay team placed 3rd and had their best time of the year with runners Jordan Edgington, Sam Edwards, Jacob Edwards, and Fletcher Williams. Shemar Austin finished 3rd in the 100 PRing with a 11.2 ahead of Greg Friend who finished 7th and also PR’d at 11.7. Sam Bourne had a PR in the mile and earned 6th with a 5:08 in front of teammate Zach Alvarado who also PR’d. Billy Miles also had a PR in the mile. The 4×100 team placed third consisting of team members Gemini Williams, Shemar Austin, Braiden Walton and Nolan Kelly. Nolan Kelly PR’d in the 400 and earned 1st place with a 54.3. Jordan Edgington also scored in the 400 finishing 7th. Evan Myers and Bryant Teegardin both PR’d in the 300H with Evan taking 8th place and Bryant would have finished 6th if not for clipping the last hurdle, tumbling, and getting up to finish the race. Jordan Edgington and Sam Bourne earned points for the team in the 800 meters by placing 4th and 7th respectively. We had three finishers in the 200 with Austin (2nd) PRing 22.9, Kelly (4th), and Walton (7th). All three of our 2 milers PRd and Fletcher Williams scored 8th followed directly behind Evan Baldwin and Jacob Edwards. The 4×400 team of Shemar Austin, Jordan Edgington, Nolan Kelly, and John Dooley earned 2nd place. In the field events Gemini Williams placed first in the high jump. Vincent Smith PR’d in shot put (4th) and discus (2nd) with a 43′ 11.5″ and 130′ 3″ respectively. Vincent was followed up in the shot put by teammates Jacob Shaffer (5th) PR and Adam Bowman (6th) and in discus by Paxton Kintner 124′ 6″ who PR’d and earned 3rd. Pole vault also had three Braves placing with Dalton Outlaw PRign at 12′ 6″ with a 2nd place finish, Walton with a PR 6th place finish and G Williams taking 7th. Lastly our long jump team earned three finishes with G Williams taking 2nd, Aaron McKinley PRing for 3rd, and Evan Myers finishing 6th. Our kids continue to pursue success and are working diligently to improve each week. I hope to continue to see improvement in the next few weeks to put ourselves in a position to be conference championship contenders and to place in sectionals and move on to regionals and maybe even state.
