The 8th grade Maconaquah boys’ basketball team won the Maconaquah Invitational on Saturday, February 4th. The four teams in the tournament were Maconaquah, Peru, RJ Baskett and Tri-Central. Maconaquah defeated Tri-Central in the first game 42-23. Fenix Kile led the way in the first game with 15 pts while Nolan Kelly chipped in 13. The victory matched Maconaquah against RJ Baskett in the championship game. The championship game went to overtime and Maconaquah ended up beating RJ Baskett 51-48 (OT). Nolan Kelly led the Braves with 21 pts, while Graham Stoll contributed a career high 14 pts in the victory. Other Braves to score included Fenix Kile with 6pts, Jared Blake 5 and Nate Harding 5. The Braves improved to 14-6 on the season after the tournament victories. Maconaquah’s next opponent is Northfield on Monday, February 6th at home.
