Game Recap

The Northfield Norsemen scored on seven of their first eight possessions Friday night and celebrated homecoming with a 53-7 victory over the Maconaquah Braves. After taking a 12-0 first quarter lead on a pair of 46-yard TD runs by John Schuler, Northfield scored three times in the second period and led 32-0 at intermission. The Braves threatened to score in the third quarter, but came up empty when Ethan Larason’s 36-yard field goal attempt was short. Northfield’s lead ballooned to 53-0 early in the final act before a Norse fumble late in the contest set up Mac’s only score. Jarred Spohn’s 18-yard TD scamper at the 2:22 mark finally put MHS on the board. Larason’s PAT kick provided the final, 53-7. Aaron Sedwick and Braxton Dewey recovered Norse fumbles, while Sedwick and Joe Ferry led Brave tacklers with eight each. Northfield finished with 406 yards total offense, while the Braves got 65 rushing yards to go along with Cody Koebler’s 63 passing yards on 8 of 18 accuracy. Junior Evan Myers led Brave receivers with 24 yards on four receptions. Maconaquah hosts Southwood Friday night.
