Logansport High School
Maconaquah High School
Our girls came out in set 1 really passing the ball very well. I was impressed with both our serve receive and our defense. When the passing is on, then everything else seems to fall into place. Our setter, Abby, continues to do a nice job of distributing the ball around to our hitters. hen you have multiple girls getting double digit kills, then you have to make sure you give credit starting with the pass, then the set, and then the hitters.
In set 2 we came out sluggish. We allowed Logansport to dictate the pace of the game and that really hurt our momentum. We definitely need to work on playing point to point and not letting a previous negative affect the next point. I reminded the girls how well they passed in set 1 and that they can’t crumble like that and expect to win against some of the teams we will be facing this weekend or even into the later in the season.
In set 3 and 4 we just allowed ourselves to play very laid back. We didn’t serve the ball very well, our defense wasn’t horrible, but we had several girls playing defense behind the block and we won’t pick up balls if we are standing behind the block. I hope it was a good confidence boost for our freshman Emily to put the ball down on the final play. We move to 3-0 and head to Huntington North this weekend.
